Crocs on Wiz Khalifa’s tour – Insta post of the week

Friend of Croc Mode DJ Bonics captured this video on tour with Wiz Khalifa. #Crocmode Takeover!

TUESBOOTY at Pianos with B-Tips Kid Chalupa and Booki Bluntz

TUESBOOTY got an insane start with a huge warmup RnB and Hip Hop Classics set from B-Tips, classic House with Kid Chalupa and the peak hour Hood Anthem set from Booki Bluntz.  Pianos was buzzing with energy and the bar was crowded from 10pm until the 4am close.

If you’ve never been to Pianos, it is the quintessential Lower East Side dive bar and performance space.  It’s full of tourists, mostly American and European, and that just adds to the energy – basically everyone is trying to get wasted and party.  The locals that come on Tuesdays are service industry types and yeah…we probably drink more than the average profession.

B-Tips – Time Travel Video DJ Set 2014

I prepared this 20 minute performance for an assembly of 700 6th-12th graders, their parents, and the school administrators in Manhattan this Winter. My goal was to change their perceptions of what a DJ set was.

I use my Komplete 6 and MIDI control (MPK25) of Ableton Live to separately effect my turntables and mixer (Technics 1200s and Rane TTM57 controlling videos in Serato), my Maschine Mikro (playing 909 samples), and my Vocals (routed through a Kaoss pad). I was able to record each of these three tracks separately and could thus generate a finished product I was happy with. I employed Quicktime screen capture to get the video track from a separate monitor and I was filmed on my 60D at home by Lindsay Hilscher. All the footage used is from one take (the 6th or 7th), and video was edited (sparingly) in Final Cut X.

Act A Fool – Crocmode Pianos Tuesdays with Kid Chalupa, B-Tips, Unkle Chip, Colin Mannex

Image

The LES is a magical place where people don’t have jobs and I can’t get to the bar at 3:00AM.

The venue was packed pretty much the entire time but started really getting slammed during Chalupa‘s early set (11:30-12:30) and Unkle Chip‘s set (12:30-1:30).  The sounds were party favorites – Michael Jackson, Prince, Drake, and ODB.

I was really blown away by some of the deeper sounds that Chip pulled from including some Reggae joints I hadn’t heard.  Colin Mannex of Funkrunt also dropped a solid opening set with a mix of soul and funk 12″ records and 45s.
