Songs You Need To Bump This Summer

By: Eddie G

1)    Summer (Diplo & Grandtheft Remix) – Calvin Harris

The original song was a big hit for Calvin Harris and plenty of remixes have poured out since its release. Diplo and Grandtheft come together for a brand new remix that tops them all, maybe even topping the original. The dirty drops and booming bass combined with the popular hook will allow this song to reign supreme all summer long. Here’s the video for the OG.

2)    Zeds Dead feat. Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy – Lost You

This song is the lead single off the Zeds Dead’s upcoming EP, Somewhere Else. Rightfully so, this jam is perfect for your summer dance parties with its upbeat tempo and soulful chorus. The track has a nice retro feel that makes it seem almost nostalgic. The Canadian duo has steadily built a name for themselves these past few years, and this song will likely take their buzz to the next level.

3)    Childish Gambino – 3005

Childish Gambino did not disappoint with his sophomore album, Because the Internet, and this song serves as a perfect example of his unique and versatile style. His rhymes and word play are impeccable. The production is stellar as usual, and the hook is so catchy that you’ll be singing it all summer. The album might have come out back in December but this song has really blown up lately. It’s become a hit single garnering heavy rotation on the radio airwaves; proving that good music cannot be denied.

4)    Popcaan – Love Yuh Bad

Popcaan’s debut album, Where We Come From, is finally here just in time to really heat up your summer. Once a young standout, Popcaan is now a new leader in the dancehall scene. His hit song “Party Shot” gained a lot of popularity in the U.S. and this new single has that same type of feel. It’s a very fun, upbeat, and catchy song that anyone can enjoy. It will definitely get people going on the dance floor. Caribbean music has a significant amount of crossover appeal and this song shows why.

5)    Iggy Azalea ft Mavado – Lady Patra

Iggy Azalea’s debut album, The New Classic, has a solid track listing with multiple jams on it, but this song tends to get overlooked. That needs to change because the reggae vibes of “Lady Patra” are perfect for your summer listening. The beat will have you bobbing your head, and the track features a really dope verse from popular dancehall artist Mavado. This song is a great blend of reggae and rap. It should be played when you’re cruising around blasting music with your windows down.

6)    Lana Del Rey – West Coast (MK Remix)

MK takes the slow tempo style of Lana Del Rey and adds a chill club beat, creating a nice combination. This track has a laid back feel that’s great for spending a relaxing summer day just lounging in the sun. But it also has enough of an up tempo rhythm to keep your feet moving.

7)    Little Dragon – Klapp Klapp

This is another good song to just chill and vibe to this summer, but it’s also upbeat enough that you can blast it and rock out. Little Dragon is an indie electronic music band from Sweden that always provides a unique and intriguing sound. Much of that is attributed to the lead singer, Yukimi Nagano. Her elegant and soft vocals are hypnotizing, and when eccentric synths, bass, and drums back them it makes for an enjoyable listening experience.
